Canton Pedernales
Pedernales is a canton of the province of Manabí in Ecuador, has a population of 55,128 inhabitants, its cantonal head is the city of Pedernales. The current mayor for the period 2014 - 2019 is Gabriel Alcívar Robles. The majority of the population is dedicated to tourism, since it has beaches to be located on the Pacific coast. The name of the canton Pedernales, comes from the existence of the stone "flint", which was in this area in large quantities on the banks of its rivers.
