Izamal
Izamal is a Mexican city, head of the municipality of the same name in the State of Yucatan. Izamal is located 66.5 kilometers east of Merida and about 60 kilometers northwest of Chichen Itza. It is known as "The city of the hills" for possessing important archaeological remains in its territory among which 5 large Mayan pyramids stand out. For a long time, before being exposed, they were considered "hills" by the locals. It has also been called the "City of the three cultures", as pointed out by the chronicler of the city of Izamal, for having a vigorous cultural heritage from the pre-Hispanic, colonial and contemporary Mexico.
