Hocabá
Hocaba is one of the 106 municipalities in the state of Yucatan, Mexico, located in the central north region of the state within the demarcation of the henequen area. Its head carries the same name, which in the Mayan language means to pluck plum, because it derives from Mayan voices Hoc, pluck, and Aba or Abal, plum. In the prehispanic era it belonged to the cacicazgo of the Hocabail-Humúny and after realized the conquest it entered the regime of the encomiendas, between which they were the one of Don Gaspar Pacheco, in 1549, and years later the one of Don Pedro Álvarez.
