The municipality of Teocelo is located in the state of Veracruz. It is one of the 212 municipalities of the entity and has its location in the central area of the state. Its coordinates are: 19°23'8.62 "N 96°58'20.84" W and it has a height of 1160 masl. The municipality comprises 28 localities in which 15 130 people live. The climate of this municipality is temperate-humid-regular, with an average temperature of 18.4°C, abundant rains in autumn and early winter. Teocelo celebrates from August 13 to 16 the religious festivities in honor of the Assumption of Our Lady of Mary and in the last week of January they celebrate the Holy Entombment of Christ.
This last festival has given a great identity to the municipality within the region, at the state level and even at a national level since people from other neighboring states such as Puebla, Chiapas, Tlaxcala etc. They come to worship and venerate this sacred image. Image that represents Jesus in the sepulcher and that has more than 200 years old, carved entirely in wood, belonged to brothers who were of Spanish origin, these brothers lived in a ravine called Xamamatla. Later they die, therefore Santo Entierro is transferred to the then Villa de Teocelo approximately in the year 1818. Since then its festivity was already celebrated. And which has been regaining strength, by the constant testimonies of miracles awarded to the sacred image of the Holy Burial of Christ. Visiting the president of Mexico Porfiro Díaz in 1902 was named city by this.
Teocelo has a great variety of flora and fauna, which makes it recognized, among them is the ocelot, the Texolo waterfall and the 88 butterfly among others.
