Soledad Atzompa is a town in the Mexican state of Veracruz, located in the Sierra de Zongolica in the region of the Great Veracruzanas Mountains. It is located 90 kilometers southwest of Xalapa, capital of the state of Veracruz. Its name comes from the Nahuatl Atzompa which means In the hair of the water, Soledad receives it from the Soledad River that runs through its territory and is tributary to the Blanco River. According to the 2005 population and housing count conducted by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography, Soledad Atzompa has a total of 757 inhabitants, it is the head of the municipality of Soledad Atzompa.
Of which, however, is not the largest population, this being the town of Atzompa which has 3,550 inhabitants.
