Tzintzuntzan
Tzintzuntzan is a town that was the most important city of the Purépecha Empire and later its capital. The modern town of Tzintzuntzan, is the head of the municipality of the same name. The modern municipality is located next to the Pátzcuaro Lake, which was known in the 16th century as 'Laguna de Mechoacan'. Its territory is located in the lacustrine zone, in the northern center of the Mexican state of Michoacán.
