Madero
Madero was founded in 1868 under the name of Cruz de Caminos. It was the point of intersection of the roads that lead to Acuitzio, Etúcuaro, Curuchancio and Tacámbaro, for what became known as the Cruz de Caminos. During the revolution, its inhabitants had an important participation and perhaps because of this, General Gertrudis G. Sánchez, elevated the town to Villa status and gave it the name of Madero. On October 12,1914, the erection agreement to the Municipality was ratified solemnly under the name of Madero.
