Jungapeo is a municipality in the Eastern Region of the Mexican state of Michoacán de Ocampo. The municipality covers an area of 265.98 square kilometers and borders the municipality of Tuxpan to the north, Juarez and Zitácuaro to the east, Tuzantla to the south, and Hidalgo to the west. The municipality had a population of 18,571 inhabitants according to the 2005 census. Its municipal seat is the town of Jungapeo de Juárez. Jungapeo is a word of Chichimeca origin that means "place of yellow". Jungapeo is the main producer of guava in the world.
