Temascaltepec is one of the 125 municipalities in the south of the state of Mexico is composed of rural communities and has an area of 546.79 km². Its name comes from Nahuatl "temazcalli" which means "steam bath", from "tepetl" which means "hill", meaning "hill where there are temascales or steam baths". The appellative González comes from the hero of the Reformation Plutarco González. In 2010 it was given the name of PEOPLE WITH CHARM on the part of the secretary of tourism, likewise it was considered according to the census. As a municipality that makes up the region of the hot land bordering the states of Guerrero and Michoacán. To the northeast it borders Zinacantepec.
To the southeast with Valle de Bravo, San Simón de Guerrero and Texcaltitlán. To the southeast with Coatepec Flours. And to the southwest with Tejupilco, Luvianos, Amatepec, Tlatlaya and Bejucos. According to the 2010 census it has a total population of 35,870 inhabitants.
