Sayula is a city in the state of Jalisco in Mexico. It is 97 km from the city of Guadalajara and 107 km from Colima. Sayula is located in the south of the state of Jalisco. It belongs to the Lagunas Region being the most important municipality of said demarcation, at the same time that it is regional headquarters, for that reason it belongs to the most important municipalities of the state of Jalisco. The city of Sayula is the municipal seat, distinguished by its vital economy, architecture and culture. In recent years it has established itself as an important agroindustrial center that supplies a large part of the national territory and exports to different latitudes of the world.
According to the Population and Housing Count of, the municipality has 34,829 inhabitants. From the 27 of March of 1824 Sayula has the title of city. The municipality limits to the north with the municipalities of Amacueca and Atoyac. To the south, San Gabriel, Gómez Farías and Zapotlán el Grande. To the east, Gómez Farías. And to the west, Tapalpa.
