Cocula
Cocula is a city and municipality in the Mexican state of Jalisco. It is located 35 miles southwest of Guadalajara, Mexico Highway 80. It is located at an altitude of 4,460 feet. According to the 2010 census, the population of the municipality was 53,384 with 40,176 inhabitants living in the capital. Other important towns in the municipality are Cofradía de la Luz, La Sauceda, and Santa Teresa. The city is better known as the "World Birthplace of Mariachi".
