Autlán de Navarro is a municipality located in the Sierra de Amula Region in the state of Jalisco, Mexico, in accordance with the decree of administrative regionalization of the state of Jalisco to promote the development of the entity on October 31,2014, Autlán is determined as one of the three nodes of development of said region together with the municipalities of El Grullo and Tecolotlán, being the main node the municipality of Autlán de Navarro. It is located 192 kilometers from the Metropolitan Area of Guadalajara and 165 kilometers from the Port of Manzanillo. It is the largest and most populated city in the Sierra de Amula and Costa Sur de Jalisco region.
It is a leading municipality in the region since Autlán is an important center of commercial exchange. On September 12,2016 the Autlán Metropolitan Area endorsed by the congress of the union was formed. The Autlán Metropolitan Area, made up of the municipalities of Autlán de Navarro, El Grullo and El Limón, comprises a total of 1,017 km² and its population reaches 90,263 inhabitants.
