The municipality of Zimapán is one of the eighty-four municipalities that make up the state of Hidalgo in Mexico. Whose municipal seat is the town of Zimapán. The municipality is located to the west of the Hidalgo territory between the parallels 20°34 'and 20°58' north latitude. The meridians 99°11 'and 99°33' west longitude. With an altitude between 900 and 2900 meters above sea level, this municipality has an area of 872.24 km2, and represents 4.19% of the state's surface, within the geographical region known as Sierra Gorda. It borders to the north with the state of Querétaro de Arteaga and the municipalities of Pacula and Jacala de Ledezma. To the east with the municipalities of Jacala de Ledezma, Nicolás Flores and Ixmiquilpan.
To the south with the municipalities of Ixmiquilpan, Tasquillo and Tecozautla. To the west with the municipality of Tecozautla and the state of Querétaro de Arteaga.
