The municipality of Zempoala is one of the eighty-four municipalities that make up the state of Hidalgo in Mexico. Whose municipal seat is the town of Zempoala. The municipality is located south of the Hidalgo territory between the parallels 19°48 'and 20°03' north latitude. The meridians 98°31 'and 98°50' west longitude. With an altitude of between 2,400 and 2900 meters above sea level, this municipality has an area of 319.87 km2, and represents 1.54% of the surface of the state, within the geographical region known as Altiplanicie pulquera. It borders to the north with the municipalities of Pachuca de Soto, Mineral de la Reforma and Epazoyucan. To the east with the municipalities of Singuilucan and Tlanalapa.
To the south the municipality of Tlanalapa and the state of Mexico. To the west with the state of Mexico and the municipalities of Villa de Tezontepec, Zapotlán de Juárez and Pachuca de Soto.
