The municipality of Tlanalapa is one of the eighty-four municipalities that make up the state of Hidalgo in Mexico. Whose municipal seat is the town of Tlanalapa. The municipality is located south of the Hidalgo territory between the parallels 19°45 'and 19°54' north latitude. Meridians 98°30 'and 98°40' west longitude. With an altitude between 2500 and 3100 meters above sea level, this municipality has an area of 82.93 km2, and represents 0.40% of the state's surface, within the geographical region known as Altiplanicie pulquera. It borders to the north with the municipalities of Zempoala and Singuilucan. To the east with the municipalities of Singuilucan and Tepeapulco. To the south with the municipality of Tepeapulco and the state of Mexico.
