The municipality of Molango de Escamilla is one of the eighty-four municipalities that make up the state of Hidalgo, Mexico. Whose municipal seat is the town of Molango. The municipality is located north of the Hidalgo territory between the parallels 20°42 'and 20°59' north latitude. The meridians 98°41 'and 98°53' west longitude. With an altitude between 300 and 2200 meters above sea level, this municipality has an area of 198.27 km2, and represents 0.95% of the state's surface, within the geographical region known as Sierra Alta. It borders to the north with the municipalities of Tlahuiltepa, Tepehuacán de Guerrero and Lolotla. To the east with the municipalities of Lolotla and Xochicoatlán. To the south with the municipalities of Xochicoatlán, Metztitlán, Eloxochitlán and Juárez Hidalgo.
To the west with the municipalities of Juárez Hidalgo and Tlahuiltepa.
