The municipality of Ixmiquilpan is one of the eighty-four municipalities that make up the state of Hidalgo, Mexico. Whose municipal seat is the town of Ixmiquilpan. The municipality is located at the center of Hidalgo's territory between the parallels 20°22 'and 20°43' north latitude. The meridians 99°04 'and 99°19' of west longitude. With an altitude between 1600 and 3200 meters above sea level, this municipality has an area of 486.6 km2, and represents 2.34% of the state's surface, within the geographical region known as the Mezquital Valley. It borders to the north with the municipalities of Zimapán, Nicolás Flores and Cardonal. To the east with the municipalities of Cardonal and Santiago de Anaya.
To the south with the municipalities of Santiago de Anaya, San Salvador and Chilcuautla. To the west with the municipalities of Alfajayucan, Tasquillo and Zimapán.
