The municipality of Cuautepec de Hinojosa is one of the eighty-four municipalities that make up the state of Hidalgo, Mexico. Whose municipal seat is the town of Cuautepec de Hinojosa. Cuautepec de Hinojosa is located southeast of the Hidalgo territory between the parallels 19°50 'and 20°06' north latitude. The meridians 98°09 'and 98°24' west longitude. With an altitude between 2200 and 2900 meters above sea level, this municipality has an area of 391.39 km2, and represents 1.88% of the surface of the state, within the geographical region known as Valle de Tulancingo. It borders to the north with the municipalities of Tulancingo de Bravo and Acaxochitlán. To the east with the municipality of Chignahuapan of the state of Puebla.
To the south with the state of Puebla and with the municipality of Apan. To the west with the municipalities of Tepeapulco, Singuilucan and Santiago Tulantepec de Lugo Guerrero. Cuautepec de Hinojosa is considered within the metropolitan municipalities of the metropolitan area of Tulancingo, also integrated by the municipalities of Tulancingo de Bravo and Santiago Tulantepec of Lugo Guerrero, being Tulancingo de Bravo the central municipality.
