The municipality of Ajacuba is one of the eighty-four municipalities that make up the state of Hidalgo, Mexico. Whose municipal seat is the town of Ajacuba. Ajacuba is located southwest of the Hidalgo territory between parallels 20°01 'and 20°13' north latitude. The meridians 98°58 'and 99°12' west longitude. With an altitude between 2000 and 2900 meters above sea level, this municipality has an area of 253.11 km2, and represents 1.22% of the surface area of the state, within the geographical region known as Valle del Mezquital. It borders to the north with the municipalities of Mixquiahuala de Juárez, Francisco I. Madero and San Salvador. To the east with the municipalities of Actopan and San Agustín Tlaxiaca.
To the south with the municipality of San Agustín Tlaxiaca, the state of Mexico and the municipalities of Atotonilco de Tula and Atitalaquia. To the west with the municipalities of Atitalaquia, Tetepango and Mixquiahuala de Juárez.
