Benito Juárez
Benito Pablo Juárez García was a Mexican lawyer and politician, of indigenous origin, president of Mexico on several occasions, from December 18,1857 to July 18,1872. He is known as the "Benemérito de las Américas." His phrase is famous: "Among individuals, as among nations, respect for the rights of others is peace." Benito Juárez lived a crucial time in the formation of the Mexican state, considered by many historians as the consolidation of the nation as a republic. Juarez marked a watershed in national history and was the protagonist of the first level of this era. His biography during the years he held the presidency is an outstanding part of the history of Mexico.
