Tenango del Aire
Tenango del Aire is a Mexican municipality belonging to the state of Mexico, located southeast of the state. In pre-Columbian times it was seat of the Señorío de Tenanco Texopalco Tepopolla, member of the Chalca Confederation. In 1984 it was the first municipality of the entity won by a left party and has registered a constant alternation in the municipal government between the PRI and the PRD. In the last 20 years it has registered a strong tourist-commercial activity and culture. During the Colony it was known as San Juan Bautista de Tenango Tepopula and during the 19th century as Tenango de Tepopula or Tenango Tepopula only. It is part of Federal Electoral District 33 and Local Electoral District XXVII.
