Nezahualcóyotl is a city and one of the 125 municipalities of the State of Mexico. It is located east of Mexico City and in the eastern region of the State of Mexico. It has an area of 63.74 km2 and a population of 1,109,363 inhabitants. Each kilometer of surface lodges 17,537 people, the densidad of highest population of the country. The municipality was created in 1963 with lands that belonged to the municipalities of Texcoco and Chimalhuacán, as well as lands of the former Federal District, occupying the surface of the waters of the ancient lake of Texcoco.
It is one of the municipalities with the highest population density of its country and its own state, considered a dormitory city due to its predominantly residential character, in the last decades it has rebounded in its economic capacity, job creation and socioeconomic impact to the adjacent municipalities., faces problems of poverty, public insecurity and lack of public services, among others.
