The constitutional province of Callao is a Peruvian province located on the central coast of the country, which has a departmental and regional constituency by constitutional mandate. It limits only with the province of Lima by the north, east and southeast, and abuts by the west and the southwest with the Pacific Ocean. The province is the seat of the city of Callao, founded in viceregal times that brings together the largest port and industrial infrastructures in the country and its most important airport, the Jorge Chávez International Airport. It is one of the smallest provinces in the country and at the same time the most densely populated in Peru.
Its extension is 146.98 km², which does not include the 18 km² corresponding to the San Lorenzo, El Frontón, Cavinzas and Palomino Islands, all close to its coastline. In 2007, it had an average population density of more than 5.5 thousand inhabitants per square kilometer. Hab in 2018 2004765.
