Campeche
San Francisco de Campeche is the capital of the Mexican state of Campeche and head of the municipality of the same name. It is a fortified historic city located on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico, in the Yucatan Peninsula. It is famous for being one of the few walled cities in America, it conserves its historical heritage in excellent condition, one of the reasons why it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999. As the capital of the state, it is the seat of the legislative, executive and judicial powers: it houses the main educational and cultural centers of the State, and from the economic point of view, it stands out as an important tourist and commercial center.
