Anchorage, officially Municipality of Anchorage in English. It is a consolidated city-county located in the south-central part of the state of Alaska, United States. It is the northernmost city of the country with more than 100 000 inhabitants and the largest community in North America located above the 60th parallel. With 291 826 residents in 2010 it makes it the most populated city in Alaska and constitutes 40% of the total population of the state. Among the 50 states in the country, only New York has a higher percentage of residents living in the most populated city in the state. It is located on the interior coast of Cook Inlet.
The city has been named "All-America City" four times, in 1956,1965,1984 / 1985 and in 2002 by the National Civic League. It has also been named by Kiplinger as the most tax friendly city in the United States.
