Island County
Island County is one of the 39 counties of the US state of Washington. In the year 2000, its population was 71,558 inhabitants. The county seat is Coupeville, and the largest city is Oak Harbor. Its name reflects the fact that the county consists of two large islands, Whidbey and Camano, and seven smaller islands. This county was created on December 22,1852, by the Legislature of the Oregon Territory, making it the eighth oldest county in Washington.
