Oglala Lakota County
Shannon County, founded in 1875, is one of 66 counties in the US state of South Dakota. In 2000 the county had a population of 12,466 inhabitants in a population density of 2 people per km². The largest locality is Pine Ridge. The county is fully inserted into the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and includes part of the Badlands National Park. The county's per capita income is the second lowest in the United States. He is also honored to have given the highest percentage support of all US counties to the Democratic Party in the 2004 and 2008 presidential elections. In this county the sale of alcohol is totally prohibited.
