Los Alamos County
Los Alamos County is one of the 33 counties of the American state of New Mexico. The county seat is Los Alamos, as is its largest city. The county has an area of 283 km² and a population of 18,343 inhabitants, for a population density of 65 hab / km². This county was founded in 1949. Within the county is the National Laboratory of Los Alamos. The laboratory was founded during the Second World War as a secret and centralized facility to coordinate the scientific development of the Manhattan Project, the Allied project to obtain the first nuclear weapons.
