Luzerne County
Luzerne County is a county located in the state of Pennsylvania. In 2000, its population was 319,250 inhabitants. The county was created in 1786 from parts of Northumberland County. Its headquarters is in Wilkes-Barre. The Luzerne County is sadly remembered for the Latimer Massacre in 1897, where law enforcement officers fired on a demonstration of unarmed miners.
