Nantucket is an island located about 50 km south of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, in the United States. Together with the islands of Tuckernuck and Muskeget, they form the town of Nantucket, Massachusetts and the county of Nantucket. A part of the town is called Nantucket CDP,. The Surfside region in Nantucket is the southernmost town in Massachusetts. Siasconset, commonly called "Sconset", is the point in the United States that is closest to Portugal and Spain. Nantucket is a tourist destination and a summer colony. The population of the island reaches up to 50,000 inhabitants during the summer months, due to the large number of holiday makers.
According to Forbes magazine, in 2006, Nantucket properties had the highest average rating compared to the rest of the Massachusetts towns.
