Madison County
Madison County, founded in 1846, is one of the 99 counties of the US state of Iowa. In the year 2000 it had a population of 14,019 inhabitants with a population density of 10 people per km² The county seat is Winterset. Madison County is famous for being the county where John Wayne was born, and for a number of covered bridges. These bridges were presented in the 1992 book and 1995 film The Bridges of Madison.
