Appanoose County
Appanoose County, founded in 1843, is one of the 99 counties of the US state of Iowa. In the year 2000 it had a population of 13,721 inhabitants with a population density of 11 people per km² The county seat is Centerville. The county was once an important mining region. In recent decades, the state has made an effort to develop manufacturing as an alternative form of employment. Rubbermaid was the largest private employer, until the company announced, in June 2006, that the plant, located in the Centerville industrial park, would close in October 2006.
