City of Lexington
Lexington, founded in 1914, is one of 39 independent cities in the US state of Virginia. In the year 2000, the city had a population of 6,867 inhabitants and a population density of 1,056.5 people per km². The Office of Economic Analysis combines the City of Lexington with Buena Vista and Rockbridge County for census purposes. Although Lexington is an independent city, it is the county seat of Rockbridge County.
