Bedford County
Bedford County is a county in the US state of Virginia. In the 2000 census the county had a population of 60,371 inhabitants. It is part of the Lynchburg metropolitan area. The county seat is Bedford. Because of its status as an independent city, the city of Bedford is not part of the county despite being the seat. The county was formed on December 13,1753 from a portion of Lunenburg County. It was named in honor of John Russell, 4th Duke of Bedford.
