Ellis County is a county located in the state of Texas, United States. In 2000 the population was 111,360 inhabitants. The head is in the city of Waxahachie. This county is part of the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex and is south of Dallas County. Ellis County is named after Richard Ellis, the president of the convention that drafted the Texas Declaration of Independence.
