Austin County
Austin County is one of the 254 counties of the state of Texas, United States. In the year 2000 the population was 23,500 inhabitants. The county seat is Belville. The name is related to Stephen F. Austin, who is considered the father of the State of Texas. The county should not be confused with the city of Austin, capital of the State. According to the Census Bureau of the United States, the county occupies an area of 656.37 km².
