Polk County
Polk County, founded in 1835, is one of 114 counties of the US state of Missouri. In the year 2000, the county had a population of 26,992 inhabitants and a population density of 16 people per km². The county seat is Bolivar, and the county is named in honor of the 11th President of the United States, James K. Polk. Polk County is part of the Springfield Metropolitan Area.
