Wicomico County
Wicomico County is located in the southeastern part of the state of Maryland. Its name is that of the Wicomico River, which derives from the native words wicko mekee, which means a place where houses are built, apparently referring to an Indian village located in the vicinity of the river. The county seat is Salisbury. In 2000, its population is 84,644 inhabitants. The newspaper with the longest history is The Daily Times.
