Posey County
Posey County is a county in the US state of Indiana. At the 2000 census the county had a population of 27,061 inhabitants. It is part of the Evansville metropolitan area. The county seat is Mount Vernon. The county was formed on November 11,1814 from portions of Gibson and Warrick counties. It was named in honor of Thomas Posey, who at the time was Governor of the Indiana Territory.
