Macon County
Macon County is a county in the US state of Illinois. In the 2000 census the county had a population of 114,706 inhabitants. It is part of the metropolitan area of Decatur. The county seat is Decatur. The county was formed on January 19,1829 from a portion of Shelby County. It was named in honor of Nathaniel Macon, who was a colonel during the Civil War.
