Baxter County
Baxter County is a county in the US state of Arkansas. It is located in the north of the state, on the border with Missouri. The county seat is Mountain Home, it is known as a tourist destination and for pensioners. It was the 66th of the current counties of Arkansas, being founded on March 24,1873 and named after Elisha Baxter, the tenth governor of Arkansas. In the 2000 census it had a population of 38,386 inhabitants. However, by July 2007, the population was 41,307. The Mountain Home Statistical Micropolitan Area includes all of Baxter County.
