Departamento de Adolfo Alsina
Adolfo Alsina is a department located in the province of Río Negro. Its head is the city of Viedma, which is also the capital of the province. In 2005 it had 67,027 inhabitants. During the government of President Raúl Alfonsín there was a project to move the Federal Capital to this region, which finally did not materialize. It is addressed in Law No.23,512, enacted on May 27,1987, which was never repealed despite the fact that the guidelines established in the law were not carried out. This project was revived in 2009, when Lía Fabiola Bianco and Miguel Ángel Iturrieta presented a draft resolution in the National Congress where they asked the Executive Branch of the Nation to comply with the provisions of Law 23,512.
