Departamento de Banda
The Banda department is a department of the Argentine province of Santiago del Estero, in the center-west of the province. It limits to the north with the department Jiménez, to the south with the department Robles and the provincial capital, and to the East with the department Figueroa. It covers 3597 km², 2.6% of the provincial total, and it housed in 2001 128 387 inhabitants, 15.95% of the province. According to the INDEC in 2005 had 134 205 inhabitants. Its head is the city of La Banda, on the banks of the Dulce River. The department's production focuses on agriculture, as well as table salt mining and livestock breeding.
