Departamento de Biedma
Biedma is a department of the province of Chubut, Argentina. Its name is due to the expeditionary Francisco de Biedma y Narváez and his brother Antonio who founded a fort in the area in 1778. The toponómino was transcribed differently from Viedma in the province of Río Negro and is written with "b". The department covers an area of 12,940 km² and is bordered on the south by the departments of Rawson and Gaiman, on the west by Telsen, on the north by the province of Río Negro, and on the east by the Atlantic Ocean. In the department is the peninsula Valdés.
