Departamento de Escalante
Escalante is a department in the province of Chubut, Argentina. The department covers an area of 14,015 km² and is bounded on the north by the departments of Ameghino, Mártires and Paso de Indios, on the west by Sarmiento, on the south by the province of Santa Cruz, and on the east by the Atlantic Ocean. Together with the Deseado Department, they form the San Jorge Gulf Basin, a place with more than 320,000 inhabitants.
