Curridabat is a canton located in the central-northern area of the province of San José, in Costa Rica, and belonging to the Greater Metropolitan Area. Bordered by the canton of Montes de Oca in the north, in the west by the canton of San José, in the east by the canton of La Union and in the south by the canton of Desamparados, and has a territorial extension of 15.95 km². Its head is the district of Curridabat, with category of city. It has 77 028 inhabitants, according to the latest demographic projection of INEC. The canton is characterized by a high degree of urban, economic and educational development, with a Human Development Index of 0.807.
It has a road network in good condition, being the canton the start of the Florencio del Castillo highway, which reaches the province of Cartago, and the Zapote radial, which reaches the center of San José. It also has access to the interurban train.
