Departamento de Capital
Capital is a department of the province of Corrientes, in the northeast of Argentina, which occupies about 522 km² in the northwest region of the province. As its name indicates, in this department is the capital of the province, which, like the district it heads, also bears the name of Corrientes. This department limits to the north and the west with the province of the Chaco, to the east with the departments of San Cosme and San Luis del Palmar and to the south with the department of Empedrado.
The area of Barrio Esperanza and Puente Pexoa is in litigation, since it receives services from the municipality of Corrientes but is claimed by the municipality of Riachuelo on the basis of decree-law No.2161/1963 promulgated on July 12,1963.
