North Lanarkshire
North Lanarkshire is a council of Scotland, bordered to the northeast by the city of Glasgow and contains most of its suburbs. It also borders the councils of Stirling, Falkirk, East Dunbartonshire, West Lothian and South Lanarkshire. The council covers part of the former counties of Lanarkshire, Dunbartonshire and Stirlingshire. Its administrative headquarters is located in the city of Motherwell. The area was formed in 1996 by the union of the old districts of Cumbernauld and Kilsyth, Motherwell and Monklands of the former region of Strathclyde.
