Inverclyde is a council of Scotland, bordered by the councils of Renfrewshire, North Ayrshire and the Clyde Fjord. The administrative capital is Greenock. Other important towns are Gourock and Port Glasgow. Inverclyde belonged to the former county of Renfrewshire until 1975. From that year it belonged to the Strathclyde region as the district of Inverclyde until in 1996 the administrative organization of Scotland was again modified and the new rabbit of Inverclyde was formed with the territory of the former district. Inverclyde is, after Glasgow, the second place in the United Kingdom with the lowest life expectancy, with an average of 70.3 years for men and 78.1 for women, according to a study by the UK Psychotherapy Society conducted in 2006.
