Shetland Islands
The Shetland Islands are a group of North Atlantic islands located between the Faroe Islands, the southwestern coast of Norway and the island of Great Britain. Slightly above 60 °N of latitude, they represent the northern end of the North Sea. It is also a council of Scotland. The islands total 1469 km², with a population of about 22,000 inhabitants, of which about 7,000 live in Lerwick, the capital. They correspond to the northernmost point of the United Kingdom and the closest to Norway and the Faroe Islands.
